Michael A. Culpepper is a principal with Fee Simple Legal PLC. Mike represents many of the largest commercial developers in Virginia. His practice focuses primarily on commercial development, land use, leasing and financing of a wide-range of real estate transactions. Mike handles a wide-variety of real estate and general business matters pertaining to the shopping center industry. Representative transactions include many of the most unique and visible development projects in Hampton Roads - from town centers, to city centers to Oceanfront development projects.
Mike spent four years as an associate with the real estate and land use team of Williams Mullen PC. Mike has since served as counsel for Commercial Real Estate Services, a commercial real estate and development firm in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Mike received his bachelors degree from William and Mary, and his law degree from the University of Richmond School of Law, cum laude. Mike is a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers, HRACRE, and the CHKD Next Generations Board.
Clara M. Laing is a principal with Fee Simple Legal PLC. Clara's practice focuses on the development, leasing and financing of commercial real estate. She has extensive experience assisting clients with transactions involving office, retail, industrial and mixed use developments, including the representation of local, regional and national landlords and tenants in lease negotiations. She also assists borrowers and lenders in all aspects of secured financing transactions.
Clara spent six years as an associate in the finance and real estate group at Williams Mullen and two years as General Counsel for ParkLand Ventures, a company specializing in the acquisition, development and operation of manufactured housing communities throughout the country. Clara received her bachelor's degree from Davidson College in 1999 and her law degree, cum laude, from University of Richmond School of Law in 2004.
